Cutting Trees Company

What license do must have to trim trees, I am thinking of what license must be required for a tree service company to trim trees and cut them. I am trying to begin a tree service business. Is there a local government agency that has regulations or licenses for tree cutting company? Any help appreciated.

So many people think they can just go to their nearest Home Depot or Lowes and purchase all the necessary equipment and start a tree trimming business without any kind of form of licenses or permits. The first thing I would recommend is if you are going to do this type of work, find a local supplier of lumber and check with them if they require a local license. Sometimes they may not even require a license or permit. But make sure before doing anything else, first check with your supplier. If nothing comes up, that is okay, you have a first need to find out what is needed.

I talked to a few suppliers and they did require some things but nothing more than a sales tax id, and a building inspection certificate. They also asked if you had a business license already so they could check to see if that was you. It seems pretty simple, but you have to remember they are just doing business and they want to make sure you are going to stay in business. This is their job, it is not for you to become an expert in the field of tree trimming or tree service.

Now, what if you don't have a business plan or a tax identification number, it is time for you to find out what kind of licensing you will need in order to run this type of business. You can't do anything without these two things, you can't operate as a tree service or as a tree trimming company without a license. The professional license means everything, which is why you need a professional license number.

When you have everything in place, the next step is to go to the local authorities, like the city or county, and have them sign a document. This will legally establish your company and give you permission to trim trees, cut branches, remove stump waste, and to do any other woodworking related activities. What you then need is a business tax registration number. This is the last piece of the puzzle, but it is the most important.

A.k.a. state ID is just one of the many legal documents you will need to do business in many states including Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Hawaii, Illinois, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Montana, Nevada, New Hampshire, Oregon, Pennsylvania, and Washington. Some business tax registration numbers are also required if you are doing mobile tree removal in several states. You can find these business license applications online. A.k.a. state ID is the legal foundation that allows you to do business, and protect your property, in these scenic states.
